The new CIO of the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) will be Liana Bailey-Crimmins. She will start in the new role on August 5.
“I’m excited to join CalPERS and look forward to inspire cross-discipline collaboration where no problem is too large to solve,” Bailey-Crimmins said in an email.
Bailey-Crimmins is currently the Information Technology Director and CIO of the California Correctional Health Care Services, a title she has officially held since November 2010.
Bailey-Crimmins has worked in IT for more than 24 years. Before CCHCS, she worked as the Project Director of the California Information Technology Infrastructure Project and supported connectivity of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Strategic Offender Management System (SOMS) and Business Information System (BIS).
Bailey-Crimmins has worked in the IT field of numerous state departments, including the State Controller’s Office and the California Technology Trade and Commerce Agency.
CalPERS provides retirement and health benefits to 1.6 million public employees, retirees and their families. The pension system’s IT program has a budget of about $85 million and includes 485 staff.
